Dig the City – Manchester’s Summer garden festival

03 September 2015

For seven days in August Manchester city centre was filled with show gardens and floral installations, live music and fun family activities. Gorgeous Gorse Hill had a show garden at the event. Their theme was “A Garden on Every Street Corner“ and they created a small but Gorgeous, Silver Gilt award winning garden! They hoped to inspire the rest of Manchester and to show what wonderful things can be done when the community work together.

Their garden was a reflection of the fabulous work they have been doing in their local community of Gorse Hill in Stretford, which includes planting lovely tree pits, installing planters on street corners, decorating shop roller shutters…and commissioning me to paint the old toilet block ☺

I painted some coffee cans for use in their show garden, which were recycled into plant pots. The designs I painted were a re-creation of the previous work I’ve done for them including the mural. I also did some nice little paste ups to decorate a bollard as part of their show garden- this is just a teaser for what is to come as there is a big bollard decorating project in the pipeline.
